Tinsley Island is located on the main shipping channel in the San Joaquin River between Little Connection and Disappointment Sloughs. Coming upriver from the Bay, the last flashing red marker is #12, at which point Tinsley is ahead to your right. The main entrance to the lagoon is at the southeast end of the island, and the secondary entrance is at the southwest end. Both are marked with Club signage.
If you are making this cruise for the first time, we recommend you contact members of the Tinsley Island Committee, or other frequent visitors, for local information on information on False River, Michael's Cut, and timing of the tides.
A complimentary launch service runs year-round between King Island and Tinsley Island, a journey of approximately 15 minutes. The launch, Thomas V. Allen, Jr., is a 32-passenger twin pontoon boat with a full hard-top.
