2017 marks the 60th anniversary of Stag Cruise. With eager anticipation, StFYC yachtsmen, close friends and luminary sailors will gather from oceans, rivers and lakes far and wide. Every conceivable subject will be discussed, ranging from important to trivial. Our goal is to enjoy the great camaraderie with ample gastronomy, fierce competition and phenomenal entertainment. Getting there and back by boat is spectacular, and always more enjoyable with many aboard. You may anticipate keen interest in the Lighthouse Talks with carefully curated topics. See you there!

In three words: Drinking, Eating, and Fun, often all at the same time!
Three days and nights at Tinsley are filled with volleyball contest, horseshoe pitching, dominoes, dingy racing, and rowing in single sculls, with formidable (and often world-class) sailors as contestants. The meals are absolutely gourmet. On each of the three evenings there is a different show that Broadway would be proud of, complete with professional lighting, staging and performances. And serious talks at the Lighthouse, with well-known guest speakers or Club members.

800 guys on the Island. Where do we all sleep?
Hundreds of boats will descend on Tinsley Island where many if not most of the members and their guests will sleep. Some accommodation is also available on the island and must be reserved at the Front Desk.
Any way you can! If you need transportation check at the Front Desk to see if you can hitch a ride on one of the many boats heading to Tinsley.
Because, like we said, “Stag is not a spectator sport; IT REQUIRES TRAINING." Stag Cruise Pre-Party is your early summer opportunity to spend time at the Clubhouse with the rest of the Stags, before we head off to Tinsley together. There will be food (a pig roast!), drinks, cigars, a drawing for a free Stag Cruise and plenty of male bonding.
This is the calm before the storm. The bachelor party. The appetizer. Trust us—you want to be there.
Stag Cruise has a long-standing tradition of being the gateway to the fraternity that is the St. Francis Yacht Club. Many friends, brothers, and friends of brothers have attended over the years, and many more of those have since become members. If you are interested in attending, but you’re not a member, reach out to a current member who is a friend. Perhaps they will sponsor you.
We'll let history speak for itself.
When Walter Cronkite came on Stag Cruise, he wrote in Around America, “The Stag Cruise is famous throughout yachting circles and is one of the most prized invitations.”
On October 3, 1965, Everret B Morris of The New York Herald Tribune wrote, “It will be some time before the guests of the St. Francis Yacht Club regain their normal outlook of their life afloat and longer still before they tire of searching for adjectives capable of conveying their impressions…to report that the Tinsley Island event is unique would be like comparing the flight of the Israelites from Egypt as a routine marching exercise. Bars which never seem to close, galleys which serve food appealing to gourmet delight…It involved 451 yachtsmen, embarked in 100 boats, 6 bartenders of exceptional endurance, 7 cooks, 25 waiters, 5 head waiters, 3 tons of ice cubes, 1,800 steaks, an infinite number of lobsters and heaven knows how many sets of dominos”
Phil Claypool was so inspired, he wrote the "Stag Cruise Blues" which you can hear HERE.

Kind of a big deal? I'd say so.
