HOW THE LOTTERY WORKS
Every year, the Tinsley Island Committee’s goal is to welcome and accommodate as many members as possible. Though many guests sleep aboard a member’s boat on the docks, we also offer a handful of accommodations that range from bunkhouses to historic landmarks. Reservations for these accommodations are handled through a Lottery system that takes place at the conclusion of every season. The following timeline represents a typical Lottery cycle; the Club and Tinsley Island Committee set specific dates each year.
Beginning of November: members receive Lottery forms via email (hard copies may also be picked up at the Front Desk)
End of November: reservation requests due to the Club
Early December: Lottery winners drawn by Club Management
Mid-December: Lottery results sent by email to all participants
Late January: deadline for Lottery winners to confirm or cancel winning requests (see Deposit and Cancellation Policy below)
February 1–May 31: All available rooms can be booked on a first-come, first-served basis by clicking HERE or by contacting the Front Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org or 415-563-6363. Any member can make one individual reservation regardless of the number of other reservations the member already has. That reservation is limited to one room per reserving member, with a maximum stay of seven nights and a minimum stay of two nights.
June 1–December 31: any member can make any number of reservations regardless of their existing reservations. These reservations are not limited by number of rooms or number of days.
At all times, any reservation that encompasses a weekend shall always include both Friday & Saturday nights.
All confirmed reservations will be charged a non-refundable deposit of $50. This deposit will be applied to the lodging fee. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to email@example.com no later than January 31 to avoid being charged the lodging fee. Cancelled reservations will then be filled from the waitlist, and confirmed immediately. Partial cancellation of midweek days (Monday to Thursday) constitutes cancellation of the entire reservation. Cancellations received after January 31 will be re-offered to the waitlist first and then to the general membership based on the preferences listed in Rules and Regulations 184.108.40.206. Cancelled reservations that are not re-booked by the Club remain the financial responsibility of the originally booked member.
