March 7: Swimming from Catalina to the Mainland and More Night Train Adventures
David Holscher, Ocean Swimming Champion and President, Night Train Swimming Team
David will describe his swim from Catalina Island to the California mainland and other recent and daring ocean swimming adventures. Founded in 2008, Night Train Swimmers is a 501(c)(3) Foundation with a membership of over 40 open-water swimmers, ranging in skill from amateur to Olympic Gold Medalists. Under the watchful eye of Night Train Co-Founder and Coach Vito Bialla, the team has set multiple world records, including the current world record for the Longest Swimming Relay. Using their non-profit platform, they have raised over $1.5 million for multiple causes and organizations, including Semper Fi, The Lighthouse Foundation, Reed School District and Baykeeper. They have also taught over 300 underprivileged kids how to swim and be water safe.
