The Women's Committee at a recent outing to the Legion of Honor
Even though the calendar days are winding down to the end of the year, the events and activities for women at the Club continue to wind up.
As you read this, we will have already enjoyed the October 18th Klimt/Rodin outing at the Legion of Honor Museum led by docent-extraordinaire Alexandra Hausen. What could be better than fine art, curious participants and knowledgeable in-depth commentary, capped off with an Austrian-inspired luncheon back at the Club prepared by our own Chef Aaron? Perfection!
October also brought the sold out, as always, Fashion Show on October 25th made even more spectacular by co-chairs Erin O’Grady and Christine Casey and their entire committee ever pushing the creative envelope. We had such a fun day with blissfully happy women enjoying the fashions and the boutique. Well done!
Now November brings the beginning of the holiday season with a festive outing to the illustrious San Francisco store, Gump’s, on November 9 from 5:30pm–7:30pm, to view the visual extravaganza of Christmastime ornaments. There will also be a representative from the jewelry and silver company, Buccallati, sharing their wares. Let me know if you would like to join us!
And speaking of holiday decorations, Holiday Décor Chair, Karla Andersen, is at it again this year with her energetic zeal and boxes of ornaments and sparkle. On November 7, 14 and 24 she will be gathering volunteer “elves” to craft and construct décor for the Club. Then on Saturday and Sunday, November 25 and 26, members are invited to bring their friends and family to the Club to help us deck the halls into full-on festive mode! Come lend a hand and let Karla or myself know if you can help out.
If you still have energy, how about sailing? With the brainstorming of Nicole Breault and Pamela Healy, we are offering another Women’s Sailing Series during the J/22 Fall Series. “Boats and Brunch” will take place on Sundays, November 5, 12, 19 and 26 with instruction in the morning and an afternoon racing opportunity. Thank you to Nicole and Pamela for your dedication to continuing to up the ante for the women sailors of the Club! Sign up on the Club calendar at stfyc.com.
But of course, there’s the Commodore’s Ball on Saturday, November 11. Ball Chair Alexandra Hausen and her amazingly talented committee have been tirelessly putting the final touches on a magical evening. Please come join in on a sensual night to remember.
Phew! And that just gets us into November! Our last Women’s Committee meeting will be November 16 and I look forward to seeing many of you there to toast the season upon us.
