Showcasing and Celebrating Your Club
On March 5, the best of the club industry is coming to St. Francis to see why we are consistently rated the #1 yacht club in the country. We have been asked to host the Club Managers of America annual event, and we are honored to do so. Learn what you should know about this event.

The best of the private club industry is visiting San Francisco this March. For the first time in twenty years, the Club Managers’ Association of America (CMAA) is hosting its annual World Conference in San Francisco with the culminating event to be held at the St. Francis Yacht Club on Monday, March 5. We are getting prepared to welcome 1,600 club managers from around the world, all traveling here to experience why your Club consistently gets ranked number one.

For this event, the Club will be transformed into “The Streets of San Francisco”, with drinks and cuisine to match. To accommodate the large number of guests, we will be erecting a tent in the West parking lot beginning Friday, March 2. The Club will run business-as-usual over the weekend, with the exception of Sunday when the Main Dining Room and Clippership will be closed for event preparations; the Grill will remain open for a la carte dining.

If you are interested in being a member ambassador during the event, please contact me and we can get you signed up for an informational training session. We thank you very much for allowing the use of your Club for this event. It will be a networking opportunity for club managers and a chance to showcase our fine club. The staff is looking forward to the party as we consider it a real honor to have been asked to host it.

Speaking of staff, we recently held our annual employee appreciation event aboard the California Hornblower, with nearly 200 employees, guests and board members in attendance. In addition to a beautiful setting and great refreshments, the evening allowed us the opportunity to hand out our yearly service pins and recognize our Employee of the Year. The employees nominate individuals for this award on the basis of the following traits: Exemplifies Teamwork, Excellent Attendance, Shows Positive Leadership, Punctuality, Demonstrates Integrity and Offers Mutual Respect. This year, we received 64 nominees and had a tough time narrowing it down to the standouts. In the end, we awarded a San Francisco Employee of the Year—Christian Lopez—and a Tinsley Island Employee of the Year—Josefina Jimenez. We also acknowledged six MVPs for their excellent service: Ana Alvarez, Chase Bargemann, Weiqiang Cen, Kem Eap, Hon Ng and Tody Soriano. The next time you see any of these individuals around the Clubhouse, please congratulate them.

The party was a rousing success and it is always a pleasure to celebrate the staff members who work so hard to make this Club great. As we kick off the new year, the staff is looking forward to a fantastic 2018 after closing out a stupendous 2017.

I hope to see you here at the Club.
