J/22 Club Fleet

Members and guests of the St. Francis Yacht Club have access to a fleet of 10 equally matched J/22 sailboats.

The fleet resides in impressive fashion on our waterfront, allowing local sailors to hone their team and match racing skills in regular practice and regattas, while also allowing the Club to host great regattas. Recognizing the J/22 fleet is an incredible resource for the St. Francis Yacht Club and its sailing community, we aim to increase opportunities for the fleet's use.

J/22 Programs & Information

  • Who can sail the J/22s

    • J/22s are available primarily through StFYC-organized racing, instruction and related practices. “Related practices” on J/22s are (a) built into an event schedule and/or authorized by official race documents, or (b) special training for team members preparing to represent StFYC at an upcoming challenge. All practice sessions must be arranged in advance through the Race Office and have an approved practice plan.

Special arrangements may be made through the Race Office to charter a boat for use in a non-StFYC event. Unfortunately, J/22s are not available for pleasure sailing on windy SF Bay.

Charter fees associated with StFYC-organized events are either incorporated into overall entry fees or, in some cases, kept separate for administrative purposes.

  • Fleet Racing

    • In 2017, we will host three J/22 fleet racing series. In the spirit of friendly competition and learning, each evening of racing will involve three or four short courses raced right off the Clubhouse race deck in the golden light of the day. Your team can commit to a complete series or just a single day of racing. Volunteer coaches provide J/22-specific tips and optional advice on tactical situations or rules questions. Racing is open to all. Skippers must be StFYC members in good standing.

  • Team Racing

    • Throughout the year, the StFYC Team Race program travels around the country to compete in various invitational and team-race events. The program routinely organizes Intro to Team Racing clinics and practices for members interested in upping their team race game. This program caters to any and all levels of team racing experience from novice to expert. For more information regarding the StFYC Team Racing Program, or to be put on the team racing mailing list, please email stfycteamracing@gmail.com.
