The J/22 Spring Series kicks off on Wednesday, March 18 and is open to all boats of the J/22 class. The race format will be short course fleet racing run off the race deck or, in the event of light air, in the cove just east of the harbor mouth. The goal is to complete 3-4 races each day.
There will be a volunteer coach each evening to help with on or off the water questions or techniques and the boats are available to registered competitors for practice after 2pm each race day. The entry fee for the series is $100; the nightly entry fee is $25. Any StFYC member who is an approved J/22 skipper is welcome to charter a boat for this series. The boats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis according to the registration time stamp. The charter fee for the series is $450; the daily charter fee is $100. All skippers are 'approved' if they have already skippered a J/22 in a match, team or fleet race. Other interested skippers should contact Lynn in the Race Office at [email protected] to schedule a check-out of approximately 1-2 hours. You are welcome to register before completing your check-out however, you will not be able to sail until you have done so. Every entrant who charters a J/22 for the series is allowed to name another StFYC approved skipper to act as his/her alternate so that the boat and its crew will not miss an evening of racing if the primary skipper is unavailable. One of these skippers must be onboard every evening for the boat to be sailed and scored under the entrant's registration.
