Sharks! Why We Should Protect Them
David McGuire, MPH, Founder and Director, Shark Stewards
  
 
Marine biologist and founder of the non-profit, Shark Stewards, David McGuire holds a masters degree in Environmental Health from UC Berkeley and is a Research Associate of the Department of Aquatic Biology at the California Academy of Sciences. He has conducted multiple shark research programs that include population studies, movements and fisheries impacts. As Captain, Dive Master, writer and underwater cinematographer, David has explored the world’s oceans on numerous sailing voyages, producing media with an emphasis on ocean awareness, including several award winning documentaries focused on sharks. Through Shark Stewards, he catalyzed the coalition leading to the passage of the California Shark Conservation Act, AB 376.
