Kenneth Grahame, author of Wind in the Willows, could have been thinking about Dick Enersen when he wrote, “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” From sailing on San Francisco Bay to crossing the Atlantic and the Pacific as a teenager, to his days as an alternate crew member of the 1964 America’s Cup Defender Constellation, to cruising in the Northwest, he has been a living example of Grahame’s words. Dick may opine on matters nautical, or not, but it will certainly be interesting.
