US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling / Safety and Rescue Class

The Race Department is offering a Safe Powerboat Handling/Safety and Rescue Class for all interested St. Francis Yacht Club members and Race Committee volunteers.  This hands-on course is for anyone who wants to learn how to safely operate a small-medium size powerboat or improve their existing boathandling skills as well as learn or refine proper techniques for small boat rescues, towing and piloting.  The 18 hour class is split between classroom discussion and on the water practice and is the leading powerboat curriculum in the county.  The class is perfect for anyone who is interested in gaining confidence on the water in a comfortable setting and looking to have a well-rounded understanding of powerboat and safety operations.  Topics will include:

The course will be run on the club’s fleet of powerboats and taught by Race Manager Lynn M. Lynch, a US Powerboating Master Instructor Trainer.  Students who successfully complete the class will receive a Safe Powerboat Handling Certification along with a Safety and Rescue Certification (attendance at all days is required to be eligible for the certification).
