4TH WEDNESDAY WINE EDUCATION
Old World Smackdown!

May 27, 2015
5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Which Cabernet is best, California or Bordeaux? The famed “Paris Tasting of 1976” was a blind tasting that pitted California wines against those from Bordeaux. The French panelists were stunned at the results, and California wines were suddenly thrust onto the global stage of fine wines. At this month’s event we’ll re-enact a similar blind tasting with contemporary wine brands. Online wine merchant Dave Chambers will provide an overview of the two regions prior to our blind tasting, which will be accompanied by small plates and a cheese board. Come learn what style of wine you prefer to collect and drink. You may surprise yourself!

Dave “The Wine Merchant” Chambers has been a wine educator for 25 years and a retailer for half that time.  Launching the Sideways Wine Club in 2005 as a licensee of Fox Searchlight Pictures, he leveraged the enthusiasm of the award-winning movie to create the fastest-growing wine club of 2005/6.  Today he continues to run a popular wine club and online wine shop and organizes tastings and educational events throughout Northern California.  He also provides cellar consultation for individuals and wine list advisory services to restaurants.

Seating is limited to 24 people, so reserve your seats today.

This event is complimentary to Wine Society members. A Wine Society member may bring one guest at no charge. Additional guests are $30 (+tax).
