THE DETAILS:

What is Fresh Crew Cruise?
Fresh Crew Cruise is open to members and guests of St. Francis Yacht Club, age 21 and over. Make your way to the St. Francis Yacht Club’s private island in the San Joaquin River (approximately a 2.5-hour drive from San Francisco). Guests arrive Friday afternoon, by boat or by car, for a weekend of dancing, drinking, sailing and fun in the sun. This year's theme is "Oktoberfest" so be sure to pack your bier and lederhosen.

Food: Fresh Crew is going back to its roots; this cruise will not be catered. Members (and their guests) will be responsible for providing their own food and utensils and cleaning up after themselves. Cruise attendees will have access to the Island’s kitchen (including food storage areas and refrigerators) and outdoor grills. We would recommend that members assign responsibility for each meal amongst their guests. Depending on the size and hunger of your group, we recommend bringing enough food for Friday dinner, Saturday brunch, Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast. If you forget any tools or kitchen supplies, don’t be shy—ask to borrow from a fellow Fresh Crew attendee.

Drink: Your ticket includes access to bottomless Golden Road Brewing beer throughout the weekend. In addition, guests will be offered complimentary specialty drinks at the evening happy hours. In the morning, saunter over to the Blood Mary Bar hosted by Talus, Inc. If you can make it out to the swim dock, you’ll also get access to the open bar at the “Floatilla.” If that’s not enough, alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the Bar using a member’s number. You are also welcome to bring as much alcohol to the Island as you’d like.

Housing: You can buy a ticket to attend the Cruise at the last minute, but you probably won’t find a place to stay. Be sure to lock down your housing as soon as possible.

Powerboats/Sailboats: If you’re lucky enough to have a boat up at Tinsley, host a group on your boat. Know of someone in the Bay Area that has boat? Ask them to bring it up to Tinsley for the weekend. We have ample docking space; just remember to register your boat once you’ve arrived. For more information on docking, see here

Houseboats: Fresh Crew has put several houseboats on hold at Paradise Point. Contact Fresh Crew Committee Member Easton McAllister ([email protected]) to reserve a houseboat for your crew; houseboats sleep 6-12 people. If you are able to gather a crew big enough to fill a 12-person houseboat before May 1 (and register them for the Cruise), your ticket is on us. Contact Easton for more information.

On-Island Housing: There is a limited amount of on-island housing. For this particular event, your best bet is to spend the night in the centrally located Bunkhouse when you can reserve a bed for $25/night. The island also owns one houseboat. Reserve both options through the Front Desk at 415-563-6363.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

By boat: Please refer to “Directions by Sea” HERE

By car
: Navigate to King Island Marina in Stockton (11530 W. Eight Mile Rd., Stockton, CA 95219). Fully download maps and directions before you go, as cell service can be spotty. Give yourself plenty of time to account for Friday night traffic out of the city. As you approach King Island Marina, you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere—don’t panic! You are in the right spot. Although we’ve never had a problem, we don’t recommend leaving valuables in your car.

Parking:
You can purchase a parking permit from the Marina Store for $10 a day. Parking passes must be visibly displayed on your dashboard. If the Marina Store is closed when you arrive, please write a note on your dash and settle up before you depart. License plates are recorded and you will be contacted if you don’t pay. Please do not park in reserved or tenant-parking areas (your car could be towed). Parking is allowed on the side of the road and on the hill behind the Marina Office. If you are confused about where to park, look for cars with the StFYC burgee.

Launch:
The Tinsley Island launch dock is right across from the Marina Store. The journey to the island is approximately 15 minutes. The regular launch is complimentary; additional runs (except for medical emergencies), cost $50 between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm. You can find the launch schedule here. Contact the launch operator with questions or problems at 209-406-6456. The Tinsley Island Manager can also be contacted at 209-607-3199.

Arrival:
As soon as you arrive on Tinsley Island, make your way to registration where you will be greeted with a beer stein full of complimentary Golden Road beer, your registration packet, wristbands, an island map, a list of rules, a schedule and a waiver for taking out water equipment. There, you can also sign up for the Laser regatta. Registration starts at 4:00pm on Friday and ends after the last launch lands.

Departure:
If you need to be home at a certain time on Sunday, sign up for the Sunday-morning launch on Saturday. The schedule will be posted at Main Dock at 4:00pm. Launches fill up.

MEMBERS AND GUESTS

Members, you are responsible for your guests. Please brief them on the rules and customs of the island. Please also remember to take responsibility for feeding your guests as this will not be a catered cruise.

Guests, we welcome you to enjoy Tinsley Island and all it has to offer! If you ever have questions about how it all works, ask a member of StFYC or a Tinsley Island staff person.

WEEKEND ACTIVITIES TO NOTE

Biergarten Happy Hours:
Every evening, meet us in the Biergarten for specialty drinks and complimentary pints of Golden Road beer.

Table Decorating:
When you arrive, make your way to the dining area--the covered area with tables--and claim your table for the weekend. You will be provided with a tablecloth, but decorating is strongly encouraged. There will be a prizesawarded to the table with the best decorations. Meals are not catered, so please be sure to bring plates, glassware and silverware. Attendees will be responsible for cleaning non-disposable utensils immediately after eating. Disposable utensils may be a safer bet for some groups.

Friday White Night:
Every year, the Friday night party is "White Night" and we dress in white, head to toe! There will be a DJ, dancing, and glow sticks!

Saturday Oktoberfest Celebration:
Saturday night is an “Oktoberfest” party. Pop Rocks will be performing. Wear your best Oktoberfest outfit to dinner and prepare to dance the night away. There will be a costume contest and the best-dressed Fresh Crew will win a prize.

Laser Regatta:
Saturday’s nautical event is a Laser regatta, starting in the Lagoon at West Dock and heading out into the Delta. Sign up to race at check-in, or show up ready to sail at the West Dock shed.

Floatilla:
During the Laser Regatta, spectators can watch from the swim dock in the Lagoon or on big floats. If you have swim floats, bring them! We can fill them with air on the Island. You will also encounter a floating bar…

Swimming:
You can swim in the pool or in the Lagoon. At the pool (and on theisland, for that matter), remember that electronic devices (except for e-readers) are prohibited. Please refrain from using float toys in the pool as well.

Kayaks/Stand-Up Paddleboard/Lasers:
Guests, ask your sponsoring member to help you sign up to take out a kayak, paddleboard or Laser. Sign-ups are located at the West Dock Shed; authorized Island Staff must be on hand to help you check out equipment.

Sloshball:
Meet kickball’s cousin, where instead of second base, there is a keg. BYO Solo cup or bier stein to participate; you must be holding a beer at all times. You may not drop a beer to make a play on the field. When runners reach second base, they must finish a cup of beer before moving to the third base. An unlimited number of people can be on second base drinking their beer. Meet behind the covered dining area.

Cornhole/Bocce Ball/Horseshoes:
These activities are also available on the Island.

Liar’s Dice Tournament
: Back by popular demand. Those that attended Fresh Crew’s tournament in early February will help you learn the rules.

IMPORTANT TRADITIONS

The Fire Pit: Late in the evenings, groups tend to gather around the fire pit. Staff members will light a fire. S’mores supplies will be available to all, including large roasting sticks.

The Lighthouse
: The lighthouse is a gem of Tinsley; it’s also reserved for housing in advance. You cannot use the Lighthouse facilities or simply walk into any room, but you can have your hosting StFYC member take you to the top of the Lighthouse for a pretty sweet view!

No cell phones or other electronic devices:
This rule goes for all of Tinsley Island, except for your boat or sleeping location. Our members take it seriously. Don’t be surprised if you get a stern talking-to or a warning if you are caught using an electronic device. Avoid that awkward situation; follow the rule.
