TITLE: New State-of-the-Art Littoral Combat Ship is Coming to Town
SPEAKER: Tom Andrews, Rear Admiral, US Navy Ret.; Chair of the Commissioning Committee
In April 2021, the Navy will commission the USS Oakland, a state-of-the-art Littoral Combat Ship, at the Howard Terminal at the Port of Oakland. Upon arrival in San Francisco Bay, the ship will pass by our St Francis Yacht Club on its way to Howard Terminal and should present quite a sight. RADM Tom Andrews, Chair of the Commissioning Committee, will tell us all about the USS Oakland, this new breed of combat ship program, and the significance of the Navy Commissioning Ceremony. Although the ceremony is free to the public, RADM Andrews will tell us about several additional events and activities adjacent to the ceremony that are also being planned by the Committee.
WYL has gone virtual!
During the Club closure, the StFYC Wednesday Yachting Luncheon will be posted to YouTube at 12:00pm Pacific Time every Wednesday.
Now, you can still watch the new show at the usual time!
