CRUISE TO BALLENA ISLE MARINA IN ALAMEDA September 20 – 22, 2019 CRUISE PLAN: Come join us for a “Cruiser’s Rally” and Alameda Tour on the weekend of September 20-22, 2019 at Ballena Isle Marina (Ballena Bay) in Alameda. It will be a great chance to practice some cruising skills like towing and being towed, and to enjoy giving our boats a little exercise. We will all be able to visit with each other dockside. Don’t have a boat to bring? You can always call and arrange to go out with us on another member’s boat or drive in to join the shore side activities. Here is the planned schedule for the cruise: Friday September 20, 2019: 3:30 to 5:30 – Arrive at Ballena Isle Marina, Bay side of Alameda • Check in with Harbor Master for berth assignment 5:30 to 6:30 – Cocktails on vessels 6:30 to 8:00 – Dinner and afterglow at Pier 29 Restaurant at the marina Saturday September 21, 2019: • Breakfast on board or at Pier 29 • 8:30 – Bus transportation provided to USS Hornet • 9:00 to 12:00 – Tour Ship and Admiral’s Quarters, etc. • 12:30 to 2:00 – Lunch at Speisekammer German restaurant • 2:00 to 4:00 – Tour of interesting spots in Alameda: o Stop at Blue Pelican (marine consignment shop) o Stop at Svendsen’s Marine new chandlery o Surprise stop if time allows • 4:00 to 5:00 – Return to boats to relax • 5:00 to 6:00 – Cocktails on Boats • 6:00 – Bus transportation to dinner • 6:30 – Dinner at Park Street Tavern in Alameda • 8:30 to 9:00 - Return to Boat Docks • 9:00 – Afterglow at Pier 29 Sunday September 22, 2019 – Practicing Cruising Skills: • Breakfast on board or at Pier 29 • Enjoy the morning pier side • 9:30 to 10:00 – Briefing on Starrlite • 10:00 to 12:30 Underway: o Formation Steaming o Towing and Being Towed • 12:30 to 1:30 – Nest Anchor at McCovey Cove and box lunches • 1:30 – Underway for Home Cost: $225 per person, including dinner Friday night, lunch and dinner on Saturday, bus transportation and Hornet tour and box lunch on Sunday.
